Founded in Philadelphia on March 10, 1873 by Charles Eldridge Morgan, Jr. and Francis Draper Lewis, the firm began as a two-man operation. In 1883, Morgan & Lewis hired Morris Rex Bockius who dominated the firm from the turn of the century until his death in 1939. Bockius, however, did not become a partner until 1898, fifteen years after he joined the firm. Although he started off slowly, Bockius’ contribution to the firm was undoubtedly the most substantial. In 1908 his name was added to the firm name to become Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

By the end of the 19th century and into the 20th, Morgan Lewis counseled many leading companies including, Philadelphia’s largest newspaper, Pennsylvania’s largest railroad, a major paper manufacturer, banks and trust companies and the largest manufacturer of steam locomotives in the world. Today Morgan Lewis is among the top ten largest US law firms, with nearly1,300 lawyers in 16 offices worldwide. From the post-Civil War era, two World Wars and the Great Depression, the firm has triumphed and will remain strong in the 21st century and beyond.

Sprenger & Lang PLLC, a law firm with offices in Washington, DC and Minneapolis, Minnesota, concentrates in employment law and complex litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Over the past ten years, over 90% of the firm’s time was expended on employment class actions and the balance on individual employment matters. Almost all work is performed on a completely contingent basis.

The firm practices before federal and state courts throughout the country in cases against some of the nation's largest companies and law firms. As Kent Spriggs, the author of the seminal treatise Representing Plaintiffs in Title VII Litigation, says of the firm:

I can list only a select few firms with the ability to prosecute complex, nationwide employment class action claims. Sprenger & Lang would be at the top of that list. The firm has a national reputation for excellence and they "level the playing field" against any company.
